My Kensington Market is Eclectic

My Kensington Market is Handcrafted

Sidenote: These photos are the first in a set about Kensington for an in class Photography project. More will be posted over the next few days.

Another example of some of my design work for school.

The project was to become familiar with an independent store selling books/records/comics/coffee and design a salleable item that could also help promote the store. The store I chose is Swipe Design, a book store that caters to designers.

I created a design for a canvas bag since Swipe already has a wide variety of items in addition to books that I didn’t want to compete with. The idea was to create a relatively inexpensive bag that people could add to their purchase and then use for groceries etc as well.

One of these are not like the others….

In preparation for going to the art gallery to choose an artwork I summarized the different excerpts we are allowed to use as succinctly as possible…

1. Art should be sensory
2. Art can be anything
3. Art is based in ritual
4. Globalization has revealed to us all that there are ‘others’ and to them we are also ‘others’ which has caused us to trivialize and dismiss as novelties the art and material culture of other groups admit our own existential crisis of whether we are important or not. Oh yeah, and something about the ‘National Death’

Friends! (a little out of focus cause Grandma took it)
