You know those days when everything goes right? For me, today was one of them. I didn’t even have to hurry for school this morning, and there was yoghurt, jam and maple syrup for breakfast and lots of food for snacks. I even found a dragonfruit melon juice box!
On the way to school I was singing, completely self absorbed because there weren’t many people around, and then realized that Erik was walking a quarter block ahead of me and ran to catch up. It’s always funner to walk with someone, especially when it’s cold out.
At school, Calculus, which I actually really like, was first and we watched a Shaun the Sheep video before continuing with limits. I got lots of funny quotes from Hamilton, as usual.
Psychology was up next. It was a working period and me and Claire chatted while we read about the evils of self-esteem and boot camp. I drew an overconfident swimmer with a duck that is destined to rule the world for my booklet.
Lunch! How can lunch ever be bad? Me and Jane ate foreign candy and reeses pieces |(in addition to our very healthy lunches.) Naomi, Erik, Courtney, Alysha and the rest of the gang were there.
In Physics Whalen gave us the whole class to work on the lab, even though he told us he wouldn’t give any more time yesterday. Its a tricky one and me and Mike both had lots of mistakes, but by comparing answers we were able to find and fix them (mostly, I still have a bit to finish up). Kaitlyn was writing Physics = frowny face squared and her other equations for classes on Steph’s Math book, it was lots of fun. Also in Physics, Whalen called us up one by one to go over the homework. He said I was doing everything right and the diagrams were drawn correctly and it was neatly laid out so he could follow everything I was doing. Basically nice job, which was nice to hear in the midst of a complicated lab I kept having to go back in and rechecking numbers and equations in.
Art was after Physics. I was one of about three people with materials there for our latest Picasso project, a piece incorporating magazine/wall/construction paper for textures. I had a picture in my folder of a nice cowboy so I drew his face fairly big and cut out the shapes of some of the shadows out of dark blue and black pictures from national geographic. Lucky for me, the art teacher had opened brand new paints today, and he let me use them. I used a warm pallet and was almost finished when the bell rang.
After school me and mike went to hand in a poster he made for the Remembrance Day poster contest last year and I showed him my Picasso/Cowboy art. We ran in to Frank and Katie in the hall and all rushed to Choir so we wouldn’t be late. I do love singing. Today there were auditions for a solo in “Down to the River” which we’re preforming at an awards night on Monday (7:00 Key City, don’t be late!) Sopranos auditioned first (I’m 98% sure thats what I am now, at least I sit with them at practice and can hit all the notes). I went very first. I was a bit nervous but I thought it went okay. Some of my friends auditioned as well, and everyone sounded fantastic. Beuckert even told me I did well afterwards when we were talking, and thanked me for going first. 😀 Furthermore, we have a book of Christmas songs to learn that we’re going to preform with the symphony and a soloist who is coming on Friday to meet us. Also, we’re going to be on INTERNATIONAL television when we sing for the Olympic games. On Friday someone is coming to show us a catalogue of hats and scarves that are only made for Olympic performers. I’m so excited! Hopefully mom and I can go to Edmonton a little later so I can be there for the special guests.
After Choir there was a short break where we all refuelled (yay for second sandwich I shared with Claire + muffin and carrot sticks) before diving in to the first read through for Treasure Island. For the most part I can see why people got the roles they did, with accents and emphasis people were embodying characters without even getting out of there chairs. I like the cast quite a lot already, and I had fun reading my lines as well as listening to everyone else’s. Since I am a ‘Gentleman’ a couple of my friends who are lady pirates are going to stick near me through the play. It’s going to be so funny, we were practising a bit and it was awesome fun. I was walking home, happily singing again, but Brenda stopped and gave me a ride home which was also nice.
The night was not over! I thought I would have a lot of Physics homework, but then I remembered the spare I have second block tomorrow, so I don’t have to worry. I went to dinner with Jordan and his friend and it was nice to just chat and eat food that we didn’t need to make first.
And I’m finished! If anyones to hear a long, detailed account of one of my days, this is the post to read.
