B.A.: So, who here is a nerd?
*Claire, Daniel and I raise our hands”
B.A.: Oh! The high school students who are willingly attending a slam poetry workshop on a Saturday evening self-identify as nerds?

Me: I always make sure that I say ‘eh’ to Americans in order to reinforce stereotypes!
Frank: high five! … wait… what?
This website makes my life so much easier. I bet it will also be a lifesaver in University. If you’re taking any math classes and want an easy way to check answers and see how to get to the solution check it out. That is only part of the website I’ve used, but it appears there’s also a wealth of other information available 🙂
Spiritual Belief System Selector Quiz
What religion is right for you? A fun little quiz; it’s interesting to see so many conflicting beliefs laid out so neatly. Nothing to be taken too seriously, as it is very simplistic, but kinda neat none the less.
Yesterday I went to this lady’s workshop. It was fun, and good, but mostly I just liked her, because she was genuine and funny and quirky and nice and real. I think it’s something special to meet a performer who is excellent at what they do who is also relate-able as a human being. Her poetry ranges from humorous to insightful to deep to serious to light, and any combination (plus toss in an accordion). In a way it reminds me of hip hop, and my understanding of Slam poetry has become, poetry with flow, whether rhymes or some other sort of rhythm. And it’s like a current or a wave and it kind of washes over you and even if you don’t absorb it all it has impact, which when it’s good will sweep you away with it, until the words mean something.
Slam Poetry
In a ninja match I would kick butt so hard that you would be found in the yard of someone overseas,
and even they would’ve heard of me,
and you would try and get revenge,
to no end,
but what can you really do against a ninja who is better than you, but try and get by and lie about what happened that day and come up with some hyperbole, about how you didn’t want that ninja to cry so you only pretended to try, in order to let that unfortunate guy build some self esteem,
because you didn’t want to be mean, and seem uncaring about other feelings and fellow human beings because no matter how we seem to be theres still something common about you and me and we’re connected,
even if we’ve we’ve neglected to protect that connection
we’re really all the same with purposes and needs, sowing seeds and buying feed, protecting what’s ours and fighting in wars, living in huts and kicking ninja butt.
