Can nanotechnology be used in civil engineering?
@Eng_93b: @KnowNano hi, can we use nanotechnology in civil engineering? .. I mean construction engineering ?
It may seem strange to think something as small as nanotechnology could be a part of something as relatively big as civil engineering but there is actually a huge overlap. And the biggest area for overlap is materials science.
As one article puts it (http://www.aggregateresearch.com/article.aspx?ID=6279&archive=1):
“Nanotechnology’s miniature answers to developing world’s biggest problems Construction: including nano-molecular structures to make asphalt and concrete more resistant to water; materials to block ultraviolet and infrared radiation; materials for cheaper and durable housing, surfaces, coatings, glues, concrete, and heat and light exclusion; and self-cleaning for windows, mirrors and toilets…”
And the intersections between civil engineering and nanotechnology aren’t limited to that. People are coming up with all sorts of new ideas to utilize nanotechnology in every field all the time.

Welcome to Make Art Daily!
Hello everyone!

James I drew you, Kamilah, and myself drawing as you asked. Picture of it is crap but I could scan it better later 🙂
We are very excited to start drawing together!
The Rules
The rules for participation are very simple.
Every night at 10:00pm Eastern Time a prompt for the following day’s drawing is posted. (Prompts are tagged with prompt)
Everyone who is a member of the blog is required to post a drawing the next day. Everyone else who wants to participate can is free to pick and chose their challenges, or follow along on a daily basis with us. If you tag your drawings with ‘Make Art Daily’ or submit them to us here we may post them as well (depending on submission numbers).
Since we know life gets crazy sometimes but we really want to stick to the challenge we have four categories that a drawing can fall into based on the time it took to complete:
<5 min = Doodle
5-20 min = Sketch
20-60 min = Drawing
60+ min = Masterpiece
We’ll be tagging all the posts with these identifiers in addition to the prompt, the supplies we used, and the artist’s home blog if they should wish.
We’d also love if you submit prompts for us! You can do so by sending an ask (Anonymous is enabled, so you can submit even if you don’t have a tumblr!)
Make Art Daily!
These rules are posted on our Rules Page for easy future access.
About
This blog was formed in March 2013 by Kamilah (perpetualthoughts), James (imperfectreflections) and Maya (mayarteries) with the purpose of practising drawing random things, and gaining a sense of accomplishment (it’s a challenge guys!)
The initial goal is to go for a month (April) successfully drawing one thing a day.
