A New Semester

I imagined this semester being so good in the midst of physics finals and scholarship applications last semester, but the last week or so I thought I had gotten over my head. After all, I have badminton three times a week, play rehearsals for footloose once-twice a week, school choir twice a week, Youth Effort United meetings once a week, GRAPE vine girls at lunch, and I still need to schedule in time for Physics Olympics preparation. In addition I’d like to join bisset choir, plan a mental health conference, do a presentation for the leadership class and I still need to catch up in calculus (although I made good progress today). Theres also always university applications of various sorts, conference calls and scholarships to apply to. And sometimes I just want to draw (maybe because I just got marvellous metallic pens of my favourite pen brand).

Basically, today made me think it’ll all work out. When I nearly knocked my mirror over I found my battery charger. There’s lots of familiar faces, and friends in all three of my new classes. I really enjoyed my classes today. It almost makes me wonder why I’d go in to science, which is just so much more work than, for example, psychology, which I also enjoy and get excited about. But I think it’s just nice to have a break from hardcore academics. My pursuit of science is deeply rooted, I believe, and perhaps less superficial than my love of psychology. Then again they both feed my love of knowledge and of understanding. Actually I just want to do everything. I’m excited for engineering next year and for my psychology and philosophy classes right now. (For those of you who don’t know I got conditional acceptance at UofA for first year engineering! woo!) Anyways, my friend gave me a lift home (and showed me his centaurhorn drawing – sweet), my ride to badminton called me back to confirm and a time is set for my teleconference. There’s soup in the fridge and I even found some time to blog. My latest application is complete and ready to send off via the interwebz.

I’m in a good mood.

One last thing, the acting class here is phenomenal. Everyone seems really good at improv, it’s a little intimidating, but it’s good to face some nerves every once in a while. Especially seeing that’s not one of my strong points.

Wish me good luck in the badminton regionals this weekend!
