Monthly Archives: October 2010

I thought of Christophe, the sweet man who had picked us up an hour before Paris yesterday, and taken us directly to the public transit station so we wouldn’t get stuck trying to hitch through the city. I thought: I believe in people. It’s not the mystical benevolence of god that count I count on day-to-day, it’s the goodness of other human beings, the kindnesses lying ready in the human heart. I believe in the goodness of people and people bring me goodness. It was this wash of gratitude that I stuck out my faithful thumb on the A-10.

Each mountain is made from 100% lambswool, which has been knitted and felted to create a super soft fabric. The triangular shape is perfect for cuddling and looks great propped up on your sofa to make your own Rocky Mountain scene.  http://hilarygrant.bigcartel.com/

I miss the mountains! There are even rocky mountain cushions…oh man temptation.

The new definition of luxury will not depend on mass production or the “high” price tag. There is no false creation of the “it” item and its corresponding “scarcity” that this item will “sell out”. The new definition of Luxury will not only depend on the expensive materials used, but the time and amount of thinking it takes to create it. The new definition of Luxury will depend on how Rare an item is. The new realization of luxury will depend on something more personal; luxury will not only be unique and rare, but a highly intimate experience.

This reminds me of the class discussion we were having in NE100 about how new technologies always benefit the rich at first and then the benefits trickle down with time.

I am not the faculty! I can’t give you money!
