what do i believe in? i believe in wearing the same jeans as yesterday. i believe in smiling at strangers. in being chaotic and crooked and compassionate. i believe in stars and the way some thousand year old dust of theirs is sitting inside your chest right now. i believe in luck and i believe in something much more marvelous and outside the stretch of my understanding. i believe in the sand beneath my toes. i believe in sun burns and getting your hands dirty. i believe in potential. in fireworks in the bottom of a waterlogged soul. i believe in love and wonder and magic at first sight, at after sight and ever and ever sight, at every single god damn sight. i believe in believing, i believe in reason and lack thereof. i believe in logic and sanity, and everything that undermines it. everything that says “fuck you” to all the rules. i believe in music being turned all the way up and the windows rolled down, i believe in things with and without words. i believe in unconditional and i believe in a love that isn’t jealous or selfish. i believe in things this world tells me are foolish, and i believe in them passionately and without apologies.

The guy singing here, Sam Tsui, is an amazing singer. He has really cool versions of ‘fireflies’ and ‘don’t stop believing’ where he sang all the different vocal parts and layered them over each other. When I saw this Katie Perry song I remembered one day doing my chemistry homework in front of my computer last year and just listening to the music video on youtube over and over again. 🙂 The actor who plays the love interest is Matt Dallas, from Kyle XY. It was one of those songs that just grips me. It’s sort of tragic and beautiful, at least portrayed by the video. Maybe just tragic.

This track sounds just like kids singing, but it’s really special to me because these are kids I love and try to watch over when I can. Also, because Lowry Olafson is AWESOME and I got to partake in a similar song writing workshop with him several years ago.

Today I sang
for the music teacher. He said I had a good ear and a good range. I sang a part of Cannonball, pretty well I believe, since my voice was warmed up from two hours of practising Christmas carols. He also asked me how I was doing, which is always nice to hear, and I’m happy to report all is well. I told him how happy I am to be in choir, but he said he already knew, I always look happy to be there. I’m getting very very excited for footloose, and hoping desperately for a singing part. Please please pleaseeee. In fact, I’m going to finish memorizing my lines for Treasure Island this weekend, to show my seriousness.
